History

The Association was originally formed as a UK group in 1984, and rapidly grew into Europe's leading professional association for those involved in Operations Management (OM). The Europe-wide dimension led to the forming of the European Operations Management Association (EurOMA) in October 1993.

EurOMA is...

An international network of academics and managers from around the world who are interested in developing the arena of Operations Management. EurOMA is a European-based network with rapidly developing international links, where people can get together to communicate experiences and ideas. It is a network that bridges the gap between research and practice.

Equally concerned with both the manufacturing and service aspects of OM. Innovative approaches, techniques and concepts, from quality management to operations strategy, are keys to competitiveness. The EurOMA membership as well as the various related activities reflect this broad range of interest and application.

A focus for development and application of knowledge. Excellence in manufacturing and service operations must be led by the development of new knowledge. The Association provides such a focus for exploring and disseminating the latest thinking and research.

Supporting excellence in teaching. The Association promotes and provides a wide range of activities designed to advance the teaching of Operations Management.

Exploring key issues and trends by providing a forum for identifying and exploring current issues in OM, and thereby setting research agendas for the future.
